BPJPH Certification FAQs

What is the relationship between Good Fortune and BPJPH? +
Good Fortune is an LHLN institution that has signed a mutual recognition agreement with Indonesia's BPJPH. We can accept applications in China, coordinate audits, and issue official BPJPH Halal certificates verifiable on the BPJPH website.
I have no experience with Halal certification. What should I do? +
No worries. We provide full Chinese one-on-one service — from consultation, document preparation, translation, factory audit guidance to certificate issuance. You only need to provide basic information.
Do seasonings and food additives need Halal certification for Indonesia? +
Yes. All food ingredients including seasonings, additives, flavors, and spices exported to Indonesia require BPJPH Halal certification, with strict traceability requirements.
What are the factory requirements for Halal certification? +
Factories must ensure: no pork-derived ingredients, dedicated equipment to prevent cross-contamination, segregated raw material storage, and an SJPH management system. We provide pre-audit corrective guidance.
I already have a MUI certificate. Do I need to switch to BPJPH? +
Yes. After the 2019 Indonesian Halal Law revision, BPJPH replaced MUI as the sole certification authority. Expired MUI certificates must be converted to BPJPH certificates. We can assist with the transition.
Do I need to provide documents in English for certification? +
No. Enterprises only need to provide Chinese documents. We handle all translation and organization, including application forms, formula sheets, and process flows to meet Indonesian audit requirements.
Can multiple factories share one Halal certificate? +
No. Each production site requires a separate certification, as audits target the specific factory's environment, equipment, and management system. We offer package pricing for multi-factory enterprises.
Can certified products be sold across all of Indonesia? +
Yes. With a BPJPH Halal certificate, products can be legally sold, cleared through customs, and listed on e-commerce platforms nationwide in Indonesia without regional restrictions.
What services are included in the certification fee? +
The fee covers: consultation assessment, document translation, application submission, audit coordination, factory guidance, and certificate issuance. It does not include hardware modification costs. Pricing is transparent with no hidden fees.
Can products containing alcohol obtain Halal certification? +
It depends. BPJPH has clear alcohol standards: food products must not exceed 1% alcohol content, while cosmetics have different thresholds. We can pre-review your formula for compliance.
Is the Halal certificate electronic or paper-based? +
BPJPH issues electronic certificates, verifiable in real-time on the official BPJPH website. Electronic certificates have the same legal validity as paper ones and are accepted by customs and platforms.
Do OEM/contract-manufactured products need Halal certification? +
Yes. Whether own-brand or OEM, any product sold in the Indonesian market requires the production factory to hold a BPJPH Halal certificate. Both brand owner and factory must cooperate.
Can I ship products while certification is in progress? +
Products without a certificate cannot clear customs during processing. However, our timeline is only 1–2 weeks, much faster than the industry average, minimizing shipment gaps.
Do I need to travel to Indonesia for the certification? +
No. The audit is conducted by BPJPH-appointed auditors in China. Good Fortune handles all coordination and translation arrangements. No international travel is required.
What should food companies prepare before applying? +
Main preparations: review product formulas and raw material sources, clean production lines and equipment, organize factory floor plans and process flows, and designate a liaison. We provide detailed checklists and templates.
What happens if I forget to renew my Halal certificate? +
Expired certificates require a full re-application. We remind clients 3 months before expiration to prevent certificate lapses that could disrupt shipments.
Do health supplements and nutritional products need Halal certification? +
Yes. Health supplements, nutritional products, and functional foods exported to Indonesia all fall under mandatory certification. Due to complex ingredients, we recommend early formula pre-review.
What if the Halal audit is not passed? +
If the audit fails, we will analyze the reasons, develop a corrective plan, and arrange a re-audit. With our extensive factory guidance experience, our first-time pass rate is very high.
Does Good Fortune serve companies nationwide in China? +
Yes. Good Fortune is headquartered in Qingdao but serves the entire country. Regardless of your location, we provide remote consultation, document processing, and on-site factory audit guidance.
How can I contact Good Fortune for Halal certification consultation? +
You can reach us through our website live chat, phone hotline, or WeChat. After providing basic product information, we will deliver a free pre-assessment and quotation within 1 business day.
